Over a few intense years, American photographer Francesca Woodman (1958-1981) created a fascinating body of photographs. In her life's work, which has inspired artists all over the world, she explores gender, sexuality and her own body. She often used herself or her friends as models, and the intimacy of the images is enhanced by the small format of the photographs. Woodman worked in odd environments such as abandoned industrial buildings and often used mirrors and glass to create surreal and sometimes claustrophobic atmospheres.
