Nathalie Hallman uses color, form, and repetition to explore notions of taste and value, often in the borderland between high and low culture. She is interested in contradictions: how classical vessel forms can be imbued with something artificial, how the handmade can approach an industrial expression, and how repetition can become almost excessive.

"The vases and magnets are based on recurring motifs in my work: the eye and the mouth. As symbols, they carry questions about seeing, desire, and power, and create a presence where the objects in a way both observe and are observed."
