People have always created art. But why do we do it? Do we need art? And what is art, really? These are some of the questions that Moa Candil and Bengt Fredrikson seek answers to in the book Why Art?

In the book they present artworks from the Moderna Museet collection. They take a closer look at the artworks and talk about the artists and the context in which the art was created. What was society like? Did it influence the art that was created? How was the art received? And how can we interpret the artworks and take them to ourselves?

There is no right or wrong way to look at art. Art is for all of us, and you choose what you think, feel, and experience about it. The experience is yours alone.

Moa Candil and Bengt Fredrikson are journalists and authors with extensive experience in easy-to-read literature, especially from the easy-to-read news magazine 8 Sidor . They have both written several non-fiction books in easy Swedish. Why Art? is developed in collaboration between Moderna Museet and LL-förlaget.
