Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) was a pioneer in abstract art and left representational painting behind in 1906. When she painted, she was in contact with a higher consciousness that spoke through her. In her unique, colorful works, geometric shapes and symbols are combined with ornamental elements. Her multifaceted visual world addresses the different dimensions of existence, where the microcosm and the macrocosm mirror each other.
