Woman with a Blue Collar is often described as a portrait of the surrealist photographer Dora Maar. Here, Picasso uses the same method that he and Georges Braque developed in Cubism. He shows us the woman from several sides at the same time. The woman's right half of her face turns towards the left so that both ears are "impossibly" visible at the same time. Perhaps the painting depicts a split personality. One half of her face is characterized by bright colors, while the other is shrouded in darkness. Two women were close to Picasso during this time and he may have united them in the same image.
The motif on this poster is a work of art in the collection of Moderna Museet.
