Sigmar Polke questioned good taste. He challenged the viewer to think about how the picture is made. At times he experimented with substances such as oxides, arsenic and varnish like an artists' alchemist, at other times he worked with film, photography, collage and appropriation.

Untitled (from 2000) is a work as elusive as Polke's own artistry: drawn but also painted, abstract and at the same time concrete, black against flowing purple-green tones, a god wearing a robot suit. Instead of creating gold like the alchemist, Sigmar Polke transforms the everyday into the extraordinary.

The motif on this poster is a work of art in the collection of Moderna Museet.
