Siri Derkert arrived in Paris at the age of 25 in November 1913. The following year she met the Finnish artist Valle Rosenberg, and in 1915 their son Carlo was born during a trip to Italy. In the self-portrait she paints herself while expecting her first child. The style is cubist but the color scheme is personal and finely tuned in soft pastel tones. Her debut took place in Copenhagen in 1919 at Den Frie Udstilling with fellow artists Honorine Bergsten and Anna Petrus. Just over forty years later Derkert became the first woman to represent Sweden at the Venice Biennale.
The motif on this poster is a work of art in the collection of Moderna Museet.
