The same year that Pablo Picasso painted "Tête de femme" he began a collaboration with the Norwegian sculptor Carl Nesjar. Picasso made a number of sculptural sketches where discs meet at an angle around a central rod. The play with geometric planes around a vertical axis is repeated in this painting by his wife Jacqueline Roquefort. Picasso's work on the painting was documented by photographer David Douglas Duncan in 51 images. The earlier stages of the painting show a clear relationship with the 15-meter-high sculpture of a woman's head in blasted concrete that arose from the collaboration with Nesjar and was erected on the shore of Lake Vänern outside Kristinehamn in 1965. The collaboration with Nesjar also led to the large sculpture group "Breakfast in the Green" in the garden of the Moderna Museet.
The motif on this poster is a work of art in the collection of Moderna Museet.
