Poster, Niki de Saint Phalle, My Monster

The motif's terrifying, dragon-like monster is a recurring symbol in Niki de Saint Phalle's later imagery for the memory of abuse she suffered during her childhood: "I was raped by my father when I was 11, so it's perhaps no wonder that I started shooting at my paintings," she said in an interview in the New York Times in 1993.

The poster is a reproduction of a screen print from 1968 and is a work of art in the Moderna Museet collection.
