The car has always fascinated and been a status symbol in modern society. James Rosenquist worked early on as a sign and advertising painter and was happy to use that technique in his art. In I Love You with My Ford, he combines several large picture fields with detached motifs into a large painting: the radiator of a Ford, a woman in profile and a can of spaghetti. He takes the basis for the different parts from advertisements from the 1950s in Life magazine. The combination evokes associations with an American drive-in cinema and Rosenquist's paintings are typical of the imagery of pop art. They can also be seen as a criticism of the emerging consumer society of the 1960s.

The motif on this poster is a work of art in the collection of Moderna Museet.
