Henri Matisse's painting Le Jardin is a snapshot. The small format and the sketchy style show that he took canvas, paint and brushes 'en plein air' and worked in the garden in the South of France. The elements of the picture consist of the white flowers in the foreground, a sculpture in the meadow that is accentuated by the tall blue flower, the darker forest area and a light building in the background. Refined, and seemingly simple, he builds with the color

L e Jardin is a fond reunion. The painting was donated to the museum in 1977, stolen in 1987, and returned to Moderna Museet in January 2013.

The motif on this poster is a work of art in the collection of Moderna Museet.
