Wassily Kandinsky was one of the initiators of the artist group Der Blaue Reiter in Munich in 1911. They wanted to highlight the inherent expression of colors and shapes. Kandinsky was influenced by theosophy, the philosophy of life that includes elements from the world's great religions and teaches that the divine resides in all living things. He strived for an objectless painting that could reproduce the spiritual dimensions of existence. In 1922 he began teaching at the Bauhaus, the architecture and art school that became very important for the geometric and austere design language of functionalism. Green wedge from 1925 is characterized by sharp geometry. The circle is the eye-catcher of the painting, like a sun in an abstract landscape. Two black triangles radiate from it, like the legs of a compass.
The motif on this poster is a work of art in the collection of Moderna Museet.
