Catalogue produced for the exhibition Concrete Matters with original texts by participating artists, manifestos and biographies. The exhibition's curator Matilda Olof-Ors contributes a text and Superintendent Daniel Birnbaum and Deputy Museum Director Ann-Sofi Noring have written the foreword. During a few vital decades in the middle of the 20th century, marked by social changes, optimism and dramatic political events, artists in the rapidly growing cosmopolitan cities of Montevideo, Caracas, Buenos Aires, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro explored concrete art. The exhibition catalogue highlights this period when the limits of concretism - and thus also of art - were being explored. Concrete Matters presents around eighty works from the 1930s to the 1970s by artists who in various ways explored the possibilities and limits of concretism from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Venezuela and is based on the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros collection.
