CO Hultén holds a significant place in Swedish art history. The exhibition, which spans several decades, focuses on his intense painting but will also present parts of CO Hultén's rich private collection of African sculptures and masks.
As one of the central figures in the avant-garde group The Imaginists, formed in 1945, CO Hultén holds a significant place in Swedish art history. In 1948, he also joined the Cobra group, which included Asger Jorn, among others.
In addition to focusing on CO Hultén's intense painting, the exhibition will highlight Hultén's work as a designer and founder of Image publishing house. To contextualize CO Hultén's artistry, other artists will also be presented; including members of the Imaginist group, Cobra, and artists whose work was shown at Galerie Colibri in Malmö or otherwise had close connections to CO Hultén.
Editors: Thomas Millroth & Andreas Nilsson
Writers: Greta Burman, Magnus Jensner, Thomas Millroth, Carolina Söderholm, Pia Tafdrup
164 pages, Swedish text, approx. 100 pictures, color & b/w.
