John Baldessari, Swedish edition

By combining objects and text in unexpected ways and thereby achieving new meaning, American artist John Baldessari (1931-2020) created conceptual works that raise questions about what art is, how art is made, and what art can look like. After concluding in the 1960s that the photographic image or a text suited his expression better than painting, his practice took a new direction. Since then, he has combined subjects from the visual world of popular culture with linguistic investigations, thereby creating works that have challenged the norms and boundaries of art. In addition to the two essays, the book contains a rich selection of Baldessari's own texts from the years 1968-2011
