These projects are closely tied to experiences of growing up in Beirut during the Lebanese civil war, moving to New York, and an emerging career in a globally expansive art world.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eWalid Raad is interested in how different forms of violence affect bodies, minds, culture and tradition. In photography, video, sculpture, text and installations, he draws on historical events and imagines seemingly absurd, bizarre and strange situations and documents. A performance at the intersection of a lecture, guided tour and theatre is performed on 23 different occasions.
