She represented Sweden at the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999. Several of her early works concern the situation of vulnerable women. The theme of violence has often appeared, as in her well-known work Hey Buster! What Do You Know About Desire? from 1995. This theme is examined in the book's essay by Stefan Sjöström, professor of sociology, whose research shows how the legal system handles sex crimes in different ways. Anna Tellgren, PhD in Art History and curator of photography at Moderna Museet, describes von Hausswolff's artistry based on the works in her in-depth essay. Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff has developed psychoanalytic themes and has also explored sculpture, fabric and installations.
The book contains photographs and objects from her entire career, and in her own text she takes a closer look at a number of works, mainly photographs, in the Moderna Museet collection.

Author: Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff, Stefan Sjöström, Anna Tellgren

Editors: Anna Tellgren
Binding: hardcover
Language: Swedish/English
Graphic design: Malmsten Hellberg
Size: 17 × 23.5 cm
Number of pages: 232
Number of images: approx. 150
ISBN 978-91-984571-3-1
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0904/7739/6347/files/185641127-origpic-eb7728_955cdfcd-8aa3-42b9-a03e-a6683c0c61ce.jpg?v=1769518097
ut251-forsok-att-halla-ordning-pa-tid-och-rum-5
Poster, Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff, Trying to keep order in time and space

Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm

Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff, Attempts to keep order in time and space, 1997/2001.

Exhibition posters from Moderna Museet.

Item no.: UT251

Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm

Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff, Untitled (Shirt #35), 2002/2021

Item no.: UT252

Exhibition posters from Moderna Museet.

Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm

Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff, Oh Mother, what have you done #001, 2019.

Exhibition posters from Moderna Museet.

Item no.: UT253

Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm

Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff, Oh Mother, what have you done #003, 2019 .

Exhibition posters from Moderna Museet.

Item no.: UT254

Dimensions: 70 x 100 cm

In the series Oh Mother, What Have you Done (2019-20), Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff has collected archival images depicting detained women. The works have been produced by transferring the scanned and screened black-and-white photographs onto plexiglass with UV ink, after which the backs have been painted with oil paint. Here, the artist returns to the violent subjects she worked intensively with in the early 1990s. The title suggests that they deal with the role of, and relationship to, a mother. The series draws attention to vulnerable women, but also reflects on the issue of guilt surrounding a parent who has failed. In the work The Body of Anthropocene (2020), with a portrait of a worn, beloved teddy bear, von Hausswolff continues her search while noting that we are in a new geological age.

Item no.: UT255

© Annika Elisabeth von Hausswolff.
